It could be the Secretary of State, the Speaker of the House, or the Governor of Texas. On a typical day part of our team is waiting at the airport to welcome a high-level visitor from the United States. We are fortunate that Mexico is a gracious host as well as a valued partner. U.S. officials frequently travel to Mexico to discuss practical programs to improve cooperation .

In an average year we will host a visit from the White House, twelve cabinet members, an equal number of important congressional delegations, and an average of three thousand other federal government officials. In addition, we can expect ten state governors to visit Mexico, many of them bringing trade delegations. And of course there will be academics, businessmen, scientists, and local officials, all of whom look to us for some kind of assistance while in Mexico.
